If you do not have your computer set up to automatically download and install updates, it is important that you do so yourself periodically. keeping your computer up to date with the latest updates and patches help to ensure that your computer is protected and safe.

For Windows XP users, the quickest way to get to Microsoft Windows Updates is to open up Internet Explorer. Once open find the 'Tools' menu and select Windows update.

Microsoft likes to update this page rather frequently, so do not be surprised if it will ask you to run a program or two when the web page fully loads. Just follow the on screen instructions. When the screen comes up and asks if you would like an express or custom install, choose the express install and again, follow the on screen instructions.

Once the updates have been run you will be asked to re-boot your computer. Once you have done this, run windows updates again to see if there are any more that need to be installed.
