How-To: Symantec Anti-Virus.

'As of the fall semester 2008 Millersville University will be upgrading it's Symantec'
'Anti virus to Symantec Endpoint Protection. This updated software will include a properly '
'configured firewall to improve your protection while you are not on campus.'
This is not a mandatory upgrade, you will still be allowed to login to the university's
network with your current version of Antivirus. But we do recommend that you upgrade to the
new version. Upgrade instructions can be found here.
Incoming Freshmen:
You will be required to install Symantec Endpoint Protection the first time you attempt to
login to Clean Access. If you do not yet have clean access installed click here for instructions.
If you have clean access installed and are receiving a warning about "other AV". You will need
to un-install your current anti virus software. If you need help figuring out how to do that,
check out our How-To's.
Now if everything has gone well, you will see the fallowing image of Clean Access. This is a
good thing.
To start the installation procedure Just click on the button marked "Go To Link". This will
open Internet Explorer to the correct site and start downloading Millersville's Symantec Anti Virus.
When the file download and Internet Explorer security warnings pop up click run on both. this
will run the installer automatically.
Now there are several other screens that you will need to click through in order to get the
install to finish.
The first warning box is a reminder that you MUST uninstall all other anti virus software before
you can install this one. This basicly means that if your computer came with Norton Internet Security,
Norton 360, McAffee Internet Security Suite, or any other type of Anti Virus, you will need to uninstall
it first. Click Here for more information. If you have already done this click "OK".
The next window is just informing you of what software will be installed on your computer. For this
window go ahead and click "OK".
The next two windows may seem redundant. But they are not, they are your last two warnings about
removing any other anti virus software. If you have not yet done so, do it now.
This is the last window before the installation officially starts. Basically it is saying "you did good,
lets get started now!" And the installation will start and run through till the end.
Once the installation is complete it will ask you to reboot. You do not have to right away, but it is recommended.
This version comes with a new firewall to help protect you while you are off campus. And it needs to reboot your
computer in order to initialize that feature.

Returning Students
Welcome back to Millersville. As of this moment you are not required to install the latest version of Symantec Anti virus.
Though we highly recommend that you do (if only for the firewall). Should you descide to upgrade to the new software
you can download it from HERE.
All you will need to do for this installation is run it. None of the windows have changed from the old installation,
and it will automatically uninstall our previous versions of Symantec Anti virus. Just be sure to reboot your computer
when the installation is finnished in order to activate the new firewall.
